Collection Management Module

Former Member

Hi all gurus,

Can somenody tell me how many hours a single FI-consultant might have to spend to configure the complete Collection module? I am the only SAP resource at the client side with no ABAPer or any other FICO team. Neither do I have a MM consultant. Please guide me with the resources required to configure Collection management module.

Please be realistic guys as I have to mention it in a meeting to save my job.

Thank you,

SONY

Hi Sony.

OK to start with you wont need any MM resource.

In terms of the config, it can be pretty easy, but you need to consider how the client want to use the system?

Have you designed the Collections Org structure?

Do you know anything about Collections Management, from a SAP part of from a business process part.

The system is fairly open, so I would allow some time for ABAP as the process is held together by BADI's.

You also need to have a good understanding of the Business Partner processes, how they work, and how they interact with customers.

To give you an example of a Dispute and Collections Management project. We had around 60 days of FICO time, around 60 days of ABAP time, around 30 days of Workflow time.

This included the design of the system, the build of the system and the full three test cycles, Unit testing, Integration testing and User Acceptance testing.

This does not include the data migration, which you need to consider and the training.

I would suggest you contact a SAP PArtner consultancy to assist you.

Hi Mark,

It was a very helpful answer. I was asked by my client to configure the collection logging part. I searched for documents on collection logging everywhere but, all I get is collection management in the internet. Is it true that collection logging is a part of collection management? I have also checked the settings for collection management in my client's sytem and there is nothing in there.

Please tell me if collection logging is a part of collection management? I have assinged you points.

Thank you,

SONY

Hi Sony,

thanks for the points.

Not too sure about Collections logging, what does this do?

Collections Management is part of the FSCM suite, you need to get an extra licence for this.

In Collections Management, you can create "Worklists" which allow the users who chase the debt to have a list of customers they need to call.

In terms of config, you need to create rules so the worklists are populated correctly, i.e. customers with a high overdue debt first, or missed promises to pay.

If you can provide information as to what you require, I can point you in the right direction in SAP.

Hi Mark,

Collection logging is the same as Collection management. The client wants contact customers as you mentioned in your previous post. Can you please guide me how many hours would it take by a FICO consultant to make all these settings. Also please guide me how to start with this module and it would be really helpful if you can send me some documents for reference. My email ID is sony.oberoi@gmail.com.

Do you know how to assess finance charges. The client wants the system to generate a monthly finance charges that should highlight to a G/L account. When a customer statement is printed, the statement should show the total finance charges for a particular period. Can you please guide me with that also.

Thank you,

SONY

the pure config, may well take around 3 days to perform.

However you need to have workshops to identify how the business want to implement CM.

You will also need some ABAP.

Then there is the Business Partner set up and migration, this should be seen as a mini project and may take 20 days.

In terms of notes, I have my own notes, but nothing I can e mail.
