Hi all,
I am trying to configure a third party technical system in my PI installation.
I will have a few interfaces reading from an SQL database.
I understand that I have to create a New Product. I need to enter 3 pieces of information: Name, Vendor and Version.
My question is, do these names have to be entered in a specific format? My client tells me that they are using SQL Server 2005 sevice pack 2, that's all I have.
Should I enter:
Name = SQLServer2005,
Vendor = www.microsoft.com
Version = SP2
Thanks a lot in advance for your help,
Marc
Hi Marc,
You can have any name for your vendor / name / Version..( Normally version would be in rage from 1.0...2.0....or so)
There is no specific naming convention for this...but for consistency you can check existing product and follow same naming convention.

Hello Marc,
I don't think there is any specific syntax when you give names. What ever you enter will work perfectly fine as per my knowledge. But, You can go with just name rather than url in vendor. url/urn used by namespace in convention. It is just matter to read ourselves better.
Thanks,
