BI Content

BI Experts,

I have seen customers install business content in individual instances (DEV, QA, PROD) separately and I have also seen customers who install it in DEV and transport it upwards.......Both has it pros and cons.....just opening up this thread to get your experience with it.

Thanks

I haven't seen anywhere BC is being installed in QA and Production, and if you have seen that it is a big problem.

One: There won't be consistency in the landscape, a transport from DV might run fine in QA but fail in PR because the inconsistency in the BC installation.

Two: Once BC installed in Production some objects will be locked by transport request and next, any transport looking for those objects will fail.

More and more problems...

thanks.

If BC is intalled in QA n PROD seperately - Wud all Dev Work be redone ?

I would like to know on what instances BC is installed directly in QA n PROD.

Objects are created/modified in Dev n Transporting is done to QA & PROD.

Hello Roberto,

May be I did not ask the question right. What I meant was, say it is a brand new BI system. Brand new development. Say I need some infoobjects to build a cube. These info objects are delivered by business content. I will install it in dev. But in QA is it a good practice to trasport these business content objects from Dev or is it better to install this directely in QA......what do you think should be best practice?

Thanks

All objects will be transported to QA.

I really dont knw when BC Objects are installed directly in QA or PROD.

Whole purpose of QA - To test objects what you have developed in Dev System.
