since Oracle 12c upgrade, crystal performance poor on some reports

Since upgrading our database to Oracle 12c, some crystal reports have issues running. In the past, these reports would run in seconds, but now takes 10 minutes, in some cases, 'not responding'.

This seems to occur mainly with our larger views.

Even after a 'Verify Database' and ensuring connections point to the 'Oracle Server'.

Do I need to re-configure our drivers?

Hi Sharon,

I suggest rolling back to Oracle 11, the problem with 12c is Oracle changed the behaviour. When CR queries to get the Tables etc. Oracle now returns ALL of them and not just the ones required. This is the delay.

Oracle knows it's a problem but are not doing anything to fix it.

What version of Crystal Reports do you use and what version of Oracle drivers ?
The combination of either or both might be problematic with Oracle 12

Hi Denis, We're using Crystal Reports 2013 with Oracle 11g driver. Some reports use 'Oracle Server' as a connection type and others use 'ODBC with Oracle 11g'. Experiencing performance issues with both.

Thanks,

Sharon

well, i'd try to use Oracle 12c drivers first then, but make sure CR PAM for CR 2013 has Oracle 12 as supported DB.

I would check your Oracle Client version. That was a known issue when using the 12c Client, using the 11g client should be fine.

I've updated to the Oracle 12c driver. However now, only half the records return in the results. any thoughts?

Thank you all for your replies. You have helped greatly!
