Hi Expert,
We have some queries developed where we only want to limit users with the following selection criteria:
- current fiscal year periods (e.g. 001.2007 to 006.2007) [allowed]
- past fiscal year periods (e.g. 001.2006 to 004.2006) [not allowed]
- periods crossing multiple fiscal years (e.g. 001.2006 to 005.2007) [not allowed]
Can anyone show how this can be done please?
Regards,
Leo'2007
Hi Leo
In the BEX Query Designer set a characteristic restriction on the Fiscal Year Period characteristic, you could then use a bi content variable like 0I_CFYTD (Year to Date for Current Fiscal Year) so the selection criteria range is updated dynically or you could create a value range for 001.2007 - 006.2007 if you didnt want the selection criteria to change. Now the user will only be able to filter with in that restricted range.
Hope this helps
Josh

Hello Experts,
Thanks for the tips.
We actually have a financial report which has financial data for multiple financial years (stored in the same cube). Each year, there is a new profit center hierarchy. The trick now is to allow users to:
- choose the profit center hierarchy for the year they would like to see
- then limit in the report to display only data for their year
- users can choose to display any combination of periods of data, as long as they are all within that chosen fiscal year; e.g. if the 2006 hierarchy is chosen, users can choose any combination of periods from 001.2006 to 012.2006; if 2004 hierarchy is choosen, users can choose any combination of periods from 001.2004 to 012.2004
- all these have to be done within the same BW report
