Communication error, CPIC return code 017, SAP return code 236

Hi Team,

We are getting " Communication error, CPIC return code 017, SAP return code 236" in SM21. When we have checked in SM59 one RFC connection is working intermittently which is used for SRM to PI connection.

Error in RFC is "Is SAP gateway started?". We have checked in sapmmc all the nodes are up and running sucessfully.

We have checked with our networking and they confirmed that there is no network drop between SRM server and PI server.

We are unable to resolve the error in production, kindly help us.

Hi All,

Issue has been resolved.

Second node PI cluster was down, due to that when SRM try to connect PI second node we are getting RFC error, when PI try to connect to first node RFC is working. Because of this we felt that it is intermittent issue.

Once we bring up the cluster online it was working fine.
