Hi EveryOne,
We going to install new languages (ZH, ZF, JA, KO, MS, RU, TH) into SAP ECC 5.0, SAP_Basis 6.40. I will like to know if I need to install prerequisites before installing these languages.
Thank you.
Fabrice
Asian languages (and Russian) are supported officially only in Unicode systems, is your system a Unicode system?

In that case it shouldn't be a big issue.
If you installed support packages since you installed the system, take care, that you re-install the language dependent parts of those support packages too - otherwise you may see "???" in menues or not correct translated things.
The sequence would be:
- Make sure you install the latest SPAM update
- Start report RSCPINST and add the languages and activate, note the give parameter value for zcsa/installed_languages
- Start SMLT and add the languages
- Import the language pack
- Import the support package dependent parts (Language - special actions - import support packages)
- Supplement the non-translated parts (Language - Supplement language)
- Fill your clients in insert mode (Language - special actions - client maintenance)
- Add the added languages to profile parameter zcsa/installed_languages
- restart the instance
Frontend:
- switch your SAPGUI to "I18N" mode (Options - I18N - Activate Multibyte functionality)
- switch your primary SAPGUI-Font to Courier New (Options - Fonts (I18N)), otherwise you won't see "mixed" dynpros correctly
- Add the locales and fonts to the windows frontend (Control panel, regions..)
- Reboot
After you've done all that you should be able to login in any of your installed languages.
