Displaying a subset of RunningSum

I'm trying to display a subsection of data containing a RunningSum in Webi.

If I try and filter the data to show the date range I want to display, the RunningSum recalculates based on the filtered date range. What I want to display is a subsection of the original data.

I've tried creating 2 queries and merging on the date dimension, and then applying the date filter only on one side, but this creates an inner join and I loose the data outside the filtered date range. I've also tried ticking "Extend merged dimension values" but this effectively removes the date filter.

Any help would be appreciated.

eg

Main data:

MONTH | Value | RunningSum(Value)

Jan | 1 | 1

Feb | 4 | 5

March | 2 | 7

April | 6 | 13

May | 3 | 16

June | 2 | 18

What I want to display:

MONTH | RunningSum

March | 7

April | 13

May | 16

What happens if I filter the dates:

MONTH | RunningSum

March | 2

April | 8

May | 11
