Excel as datasource for WebI report not working

Hi Experts!
I have Version 4.1, sp7, so the feature is installed and I am able to choose Excel as a Source when I create a New report. But as I browse the folder structure in BI Launch Pad, I can't find my Excel sheet anymore, and hence I can't choose it.
I have a hunch of what the problem is, because even though the Excel file has Type Excel from the Launch Panel view, it has th postfix .csv if I choose Organize > View..

So probably the reason the file is not visible when I choose Excel as a datasource, it is in fact a CSV file, even though it has the icon and the type of an Excel file.
Why is this happening and how can I fix this?

Convert the .csv file to .xls/.xlsx excel format. Use Webi Rich client if you need to report on .csv file. I dont think .csv would work via BI Launchpad
