Alternative BOM

Hi friends,

We have scenario like this

suppose header mat. X. and comp are A, B, C, D. Now A has alternative items E, F, G.

if we use any of them we can create X. the component e, f, g, a, we are using depend upon the stock of items. now my question is. wt is the best cofg for this. i can create alte bom but can i create it for more than one item.I also need some detail clarification on alt bom

Yes you can create More then one item alt BOM

You can try Alt Material GRP

Hi,

You can define the alternative item for A as e,f,g and based on the strategy , priority, and usage probability we can go alternate selection.

define the alternative item group in BOM of your fert and in the item details of A define the alternate group .

In BOM alternative items are assigned to alternative item group on the general

data.

In the production order in the general data tab page.

We can define the alternative items based on priority , strategy and usage probability.

Priority:

This defines the priority of the item within the alternative item group.

This determines the priority of planned withdrawls of items.

EX Two items are assigned to alternative item group

item A Priority 1

item B Priority 2

The system reads the item A first.

Strategy:

use the strategy to determine how the planned withdrawl is controlled

within the alternative item group.

The strategy should be same for all alternative items within a alternative

item group.

If the value 2( 100% check) is defined for the strategy the first material in

the defined priority sequence for which sufficient quantities are available

are reserved.

If value 1 is used( manual maintainence/ usage probability) depending upon the

availability you can manually with draw components.

Usage Probability:

MRP Plans these alternative material components according to probability

of use.Material requirements for BOM Components are planned according

to usage probability.

The planned withdrawls for the production order are based on the

reservation lists.These lists are based on the priority and strategy.

Dear Soloman,

I dont think the system will allow to create a Production order (Manually) where

you can use Alternative item concept.Though under the general item data,you can

find the option for alternative,but that's kept blocked.

So either give it in BOM and process automatically or you cant use this concept.

Hi,

Since you are selecting BOM based stock of items, u can create two alternative BOM for material X. In 1st alternative bom assign all of your items(A,B,C,D), For 2nd alternative assign B,C,D except A.

Create two production versions for your header material and assign two alternative BOM

During planning system will select first production version by default. if u dont want include 1st alt BOM (if A has No stock) then "lock" the first prodction version by manually.

Before that u have to assign BOM seelction = 2&3 (by prod.ver) in Mrp view of your header material

Hi,

You can create alternate BOM using CS01 with the same usage & in the item data can add E,F,G.

You can create two production version using C223, select the BOM based on prod version.

BOM selection setting is in mrp 4 view of material master.

You can select based on lot size,date or production version.
