Balaji... This is a forum!

OBYC maintains the accounts that are automatically determined...

As you can see on OKB9 - FI transaction - you can use this to located the costs to objects like cost center or projects or internal orders.

This is quite an important and difficult matter. The OBYC is the transaction that determines the accounts, but if you determine one cost account the system needs to know which object supports the cost.

    Hope ti help you.

    Cheers.

    TRUELY ITS VERY MUCH CONFUSING.

U CAN THINK IT LIKE THIS THAT IN OBYC SETTING ALL THE REAL ENTRIES WHICH TAKES PLACE DUE TO ANY TYOE OF GOODS PURCHASE OR MOVEMENT WHICH HITS THE GENERAL LEDGER OF THE BALANCE SHEET OF THE COMPANY.

BUT FOR OKB9 SETTING THIS IS BASICALLY USED FOR INTERNAL AUDITING OF THE COMPANY WHERE ONE CAN MANIPULATE WHICH COSTCENTRE/PROFIT CENTRE TO HIT SO THAT THE COMPANYS INTERNAL BALANCE SHEET GETS EASILY RECOVERED DURING THE INTERNAL AUDIT.

PLS REWARD IT IF FOUND USEFUL.

OKB9 is for assigning a default cost object for particular GL accounts according to the valuation area (it can be plant) where it is used. OBYC is for assigning GL accounts to valuation classes which are inturn attached to the material master. It cuts across all plants. Here you can define the GL account for price differene( PRD), GBB, etc...

    Dear Balaji,

    Difference between OKB9 and OBYC

Where you can find the cost center account assignment table. The GL account becomes defaulted for all the products used by the cost center.

GBB/VBR process key governs the credit posting for cost center issues in Automatic Account Assignment.

We can change Account Assignment for exceptional materials:

    1. Define new movement type by copying 201 to say Z20. Valuation IMG define a transaction key for Z20 under account grouping for movement types. Define G/L account for this new transaction key. For exception issues users have to use this new movement type.

    2. In the inventory screen allow the user to enter GL account manually. Configure the IMG in inventory so that user account overrides the Automatic Account Assignment determined account.

    With regards,
