SAP Identity Management 8.0 'system configuration' tab is missing

Hello,

I'm working on setting up IDM 8.0 and am working on setting up repositories. I have successfully setup one ABAP repository and would now like to enable it but, in the 'admin' area I don't have a 'system configuration' tab. I do have a 'system parameters' tab, and in this tab I have two options to view on the left menu:

1) Global Constants

2) Repositories

But what I can't do in this tab is enable or dis-able a repository.

I have searched online and in the IDM community without finding any discussion about this yet. I've also spent time looking through my installation without luck.

I'd appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul,

In the new SCN community, we work with tags. Please add the tag NetWeaver Identity Management to your post so it is included in the proper space. Thanks!

They are not for me, nor am I seeing the tag. :(

Thanks Matt. I've updated the tag to include 'NetWeaver Identity Management'.

With regards to the question, have you heard of this issue before? Any ideas on how to trouble shoot?

Thought it would be useful to provide a screenshot of the action buttons I'm missing. As you can see from the screenshot I don't have the 'system configuration' tab, but the 'system parameters' tab, and the 'enable, disable, import and export' buttons are missing.

I have checked the privileges in the admin role and it does contain MX_PRIV:CONFIG_RW that is required for read/write system configuration.

I do appreciate the help to add these missing action buttons.

Thanks, Paul

Could you try and add that privilege directly to your user, just to see, if it gets assigned. That you have it assigned, but don't see the related tab, is strange. I'm not familiar enough with 8.0 (yet) to know, if the repository buttons to enable/disable etc. come with that role.

Have you checked the Security guide to see if maybe another privilege is missing? Or do you have all available IDM privileges assigned?

By the way: the IDM product of SAP was renamed to "SAP Identity Management" a long time ago (taking out the term "NetWeaver"!). So tagging should be done with just "SAP Identity Management"

Cheers

Kristian

Thanks Steffi for your help.

The solution to my issue is to upgrade to SP03, as this includes changes noted in the blog provided above.

Appreciate everyone's help.

Unfortunately as I started to apply SP03 I've run into issues with the 'mxmc-update' script. I'll start a separate question for that issue.

Thanks DP, I have been to that link and am familiar with the privileges needed for the admin role, and I've confirmed this privilege is in the role assigned to me.

Originally I worked off this help file to assign the Admin role. At the bottom of the file, there is a screenshot showing not the 'system configuration' tab, but the 'system parameters' tab. Unfortunately it doesn't go on to show if action buttons (enable or disable) are available for repositories.

Hi Paul,

Please add the privileges MX_PRIV:CONFIG_R / MX_PRIV:CONFIG_RW for you id in standard UI. So the system configuration tab would be available and under this tab you will find Repositories and then Packages. Please go through the below link for more details

Sorry, but this is not the answer to Paul's issue. ;) He is not on the SP that feature is delivered with, that's the problem. That's why I un-accepted DP's answer.

Hello Paul,

in the security documentation you should find an explanation of the privileges that are delivered with IDM and are used to add/remove tabs on the user and admin UI. DP mentioned one above, maybe you need some more or want to hide some from your users.

Steffi.

Hi Steffi,

I have done quite a bit of searching on this topic and agree that the documentation does explain the privileges required for the Administration tab. Now that I have the Admin role assigned with the required admin privileges I'm puzzled as to why I'm not able to 'enable or disable' repositories.

Appreciate the help.

Paul

Permission stuff is messy and nerve-wrecking. I'm trying to remember what I can from the training, but it's been some months now and no test system on 8.0 at hand. I'll check my training materials if I can find something on those buttons for the repository.

On the other hand... on which SP are you? We had the training on the worst possible version (8.0 with no SP, so the big NO-NO) and I was told, the feature to enable and disable repositories from the admin UI came with a later SP (as so many other things). Maybe it's not in your SP?

EDIT: I found the blog about it. It came with SP2. Are you on 2?

Just to be sure: Do you have all available IDM privileges assigned to that admin role?

Regards,

Steffi.

Thank you Steffi.

I suspected this was related to a high SP than I am on, which is no SP. Also, I currently do have all available privileges in this Admin role.

Do you happen to know if I'm able to go from no SP up to the most current one, SP3? Or would I need to install SP1, SP2 prior to SP3?

Again, thanks so much, I now have a path forward.

Cheers, Paul

Hello Paul,

as far as I know in SP3 should be all the content of prior SPs. So installing SP3 directly should be fine.

Could you please update the thread with the solution as a new answer, when you updated to at least SP2 and the buttons to enable/disable appeared?

Regards,

Steffi.
