Asset depreciation for legacy data

Hi,

I encounter the following problem, please input some advices.

An asset from legacy system needed to be migrated into SAP.

In the old system, it starts to depreciate at rate of 20% per year, but after a period of time, it changes the depn. rate into 14%, and will keep using 14% in SAP.

My question is how to handle the changed of rate in SAP during migration? As the lump sum depreciation figures in old system in higher than 14% per year which calculated in SAP, SAP would calculate an adjustment figure and post in coming period during depreciation.

Is it possible to maintain 2 items of depreciation attributes? Specifying the starting dep date and the rate for each period.

Best Regards,

First the legacy depreciation at what is least bothered by the system. Since this value is entered as Accumulated Depreciation. What will be the prospective rate of depreciation is the concern.

Yes it is possible to have period baseD epreciation rates in same the depreciation key. Set up the depreciation rates in Multilevel Method for this purpose.

Thank you so much for your reply.

I would like to know any generic way for this.

As I have several assets have the same problem, old and new rates are NOT the same among those assets, and the date of change of depreciation rate also not the same.

If following your method, it has to create particular depreciation key for each assets.

Are you trying to find a way with a same depreciation key having two different rates for different assets? Pl. correct is my understanding is wrong.

No, I understand it is not possible to have one depreciation key to have different rates in it.

The following are some examples

17% --> 6%

17% --> 14%

15% --> 14%

20% --> 14%

Since the depreciation keys have been created for those on left hand side, I'm thinking is there a possibility that I just created two more for 6% and 14%, and telling system change of depreciation rate by specifying the date of change on each asset... Just wonder got this kind of setting or not.

Thanks!

IF you have gone live with the old dep keys change the dep. key multlilevel with the current year and period and mention the new dep rate system will automatically change to the new rate without mentioning any change over date. Like this- let suppose in the current year be the second year of the asset from cap. date

Acq. Year 9999

Year 2

Period 9

Base Val 01

Percent 22,0000

If you have not gone live you can create Two Dep. Key with the rates 6% & 14%. Assign them to the Asset Class.
