Movement Type

At the sales, delivery and billing documents, from where can I see the movement type. In addition how is the custimization steps of the movementt types is executed (assignment, adjustment... etc)?

Hi Yasar,

Movment types are configured in OMJJ or the path is

SPRO--Materials MngtInventory Mngt and Physical Inventory-Movement types----Copy change Movement types.

However movement types are configured by MM consultants and hence any change in movement type should be consulted with MM guys.

Movement types are assigned to Schedule line types in VOV6. Thus based on the schedule line the movement type is triggered during Goods Issue.The movement type in transaction can be seen in Delivery document in "Goods Movement data" tab of the document for the selected item.

The database table is LIPS-BWART for the item number in delivery document.

How to create movement types? What are the steps involved? When will you recommend a new movement type?

Companies may request a new movement type to differentiate between the inventory posting transaction. For example, 551 scrap movement type. Some company may request to have it as 551 for Internal Scrap and Z51 for External Scrap.

Copy, Change Movement Types

Assuming I want to create another movement type Z01.

Transaction OMJJ

Select the standard movement type 201

Click copy, then overwrite the 201 with Z01

Click the Enter button, then click Copy all

Select the new movement type Z01

On the left hand column screen, click Reversal/follow-on movement

Fill in the reversal movement type

For the rest of the options, you can leave it alone or change it depending on your requirement

If u want to see the Movement type in Delivery go to

T-Code: VL02N, Pick on the Goods MovementData.

One more thing. If i am right. I donot think there will be any movement type for sales order and Billing.

In SD, movement type is used for goods issue or goods reciept. you can see the movement type in delivery order-> goods movement data. The movement type is assigned to the schedule line category and schedule line category is assigned to the item category. So when you create a sales order-> the movement type is picked up based on the item category.

1. in Delivery, there is a tab "Goods Movement Data"

2. in OVLP t-code, there is a movement type field, you can assign your movement type there.
