How to change a BOBJ report's OLAP Connection from BWQ to BWT

Former Member

Hi All,

We have two sources BWQ and BWT for a QA BOBJ System OQ2.

We have created two OLAP Connections in OQ2: BWQ_OLAP and BWT_OLAP.

We have currently the "Trial Balance Report" under the "Reporting" Folder, pointed to BWQ_OLAP connection, and running successfully.

We would like to run this report at the same time against BWT_OLAP connection.

So, we have created a new folder "Reporting2" and copied the "Trial Balance Report' from "Reporting" folder into the new folder. The only change that we need to do now for this new report is to point it to the 'BWT_OLAP' connection.

Thanks for the help in advance,

- SP

Hi,

Question is already 3 months old, but I thought it would be good to let you know how to do it, in case other people are interested.

  • Open Central Management Console
  • Browse in Folders to find Analysis for OLAP Workspace you want to modify.
  • Select context menu item "Connections" (see below)

  • Click on link "Replace Connection"
  • You can execute your change source and save it.

Hi Shashi,

The other work around is, you have to keep BICS connection name(BWQ_OLAP) as it is but you can point the backend BW connection to BWT and you can test over there. Just make sure which system it connects to and revert it after testing.

That would be my best suggestion without much hurdles or double work.

Thanks

Raj.

Hi Raj,

Is it the same case with the Crystal Report or Analysis for Office Report?

I think we can change the source for a Crystal Report or Analysis for Office, easily.

Hi Rajendra, Abhi,

Thanks for your suggestions.

Looks like there is no simple alternative than rebuilding the report against the new OLAP connection. I will let you know once we tested this out.

Best Wishes,

hi Shashi

You need to ask your developer to create report for both BICS(OLAP) connections and promote it to OQ2. That way you can execute the report in your OQ2 to pull data from BWQ or BWT backend BW applications.
