Data Slice in BW IP

I have created a data slice with 2 customer exit variables. Whenever Query runs, these 2 will be filled and via a lock button in Workbook data will be locked.

Problem is how can i call this data Slice ? How can it be done via a Planning Function?

Will this data Slice be called automatically when the query runs?

There is really no documentation available about calling a data Slice.

Also, what is the difference between selection and exit class. Why do i even need a exit class when i have selection option?

Hello,

Data slice is applied on the planning cube. So every time the query runs the data slice will be available unless you deactivate it.

Yes it will , when you execute the query. The slice is on the cube and therefore it will certainly impact.

Can you tell how to call this data slice via a button in Analysis office. When I execute planning function in BW,the data slice is activated in table rspls_ds but it doesn't do any locking.

Any idea how can I achieve locking in Analysis office via a Button. When I press the button, it should lock the shown data.
