Work centre distribution key

Dear All,

In work centre, under capacity tab there is distribution key and int. dist. key. So if i maintain those fields with respective data will it be applicable for capacity leveling (prevent overload) during mrp run automatically?

i mean will it consider those fields for two purposes,

either for distribution over other work centers automatically if one work centre gets fully loaded or,

In the same work centre distribution of dates evenly automatically so that it doesn't gets overloaded.

I also surfed regarding this dist key in forum, but not much discussions has been done related to this.

If you want to control, overloading, only during levelling, if you choose startegy profile with finite scheduling, option and the work center enabled for finite scheduling, it will do

It will only control, how you will distribute load.

Basically distribution key is used to load you work center as per the clients requirement. With this you can load the work contineously or discrete.

This distribution key is the final stage.

Before that you should assign distribution function whether the distribution is contineous or discrete. and Distribution strategy.

If you want to load the work center first 20% then after some time again we can load the work center x % of the balance left out 80 %. Like that you can break the distribution of your load on the work center.

First make Distribution fn. Then assign this to Distribution strategy. Then finally assign this distribution strategy to the Distribution key.

Finally assign this distribution key to your work center in Capacity tab at machine capacity.
