Unable to import universe with client tool (BOE XI R3.1)

I have a production BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R3.1 server.

I am unable to import the universe file now with below error though I was able to:

File Repository Server error: Failed to connect to the File Repository Server Input. Make sure the server is up and running. Could not export the universe.

BOE version on server is: boexir31sp7

BOE on server is up and running. Also there is PlexView.biar stored on server.

I can open the client tools, but it always fail with above error.

Any help?

Could you help?

During my develop, I found it failed to import universe and open Web Intelligence Rich Client on local PC, on server side, it is SP7( installed.

So I rolled back BOE version on server side to SP6(, it works, there is no problem to import universe.

It failed with below environment, could you tell how to solve?


  • Windows 64-bit OS
  • BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1( Client Tools
  • 32-bit ODIC Drivers


  • LUNIX 6.9
  • BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP7 Server
