create a file system repository

Hi all,

when I create a file system repository in the following solution:

System Administration → System Configuration→Knowledge Management→Content Management→Repository Managers → File System Repository

There I input the name and the URL which is available on the server.

Then I go to Content Administration → KM Content to check the content of the repository I have created , I can find the folder in the first level directory, but why I can't find the text file I create under the second level .

such as: URL C:/kmtest

on the server C:/kmtest/1

C:/kmtest/1/1.text

(I can see the folder 1, but when I click this fodler on the portal , I can see nothing.)

When I use System Administration → Monitoring → Knowledge

Management → Component Monitor to check the status of the repository , I find it was not in green light .

Then what is the reason ? Thank you if you can help me !

Check permissions of that folder give full permissions.

Create a File System Repository

You map a network drive from the Portal server and create the file repository in the Portal.

Procedure

To map a network drive from the portal server

1. Log on to the Windows Server of the Portal.

2. From the Microsoft Windows Start menu, open Windows Explorer.

3. Choose Tools  Map Network Drive.

4. Specify the drive letter for the connection (say V :).

5. In Folder, enter the path of the shared folder, (
kmtest)and choose Finish.

Create the File Repository in the Portal

1. Choose System Administration  System Configuration  Knowledge Management  Content Management  Repository Managers  File System Repository.

2. Choose New.

3. Enter a prefix that describes your folder.

4. Enter the value of the drive letter you mapped previously with a forward slash.(/kmtest)

5. (optional) Select the checkboxes for layout and properties from Repository Services.

6. Choose OK.

Dear Sandy,

if you see already the folder under root navigation your stage is not about mapping here anymore. Btw: In general, mapping is not needed on OS level of Portal server, here the capabilties of the KMC are to be used, see e.g. relevant docu.. But again, this is not the issue here.

I'd concentrate on the specific issue of the Repository as you're saying that in component monitor you don't see a green light. There should be something about the reason as well or see default trc.

The issue that the txt file (I assume on FS level created) can not be seen might also depend on the choosen security manager of the RM, review again your setting here according to docu. I suggest AclSecManager for the beginning / such testing.

Best Regards, Peter

Thanks Krishna and Peter！

at last I can see the doc. But I didn't have anything changed. perhaps it is the problem of the remote server.

Thank you all the same.
