The DB2 document shows that one of the databases that it can connect to is SyBase ASE 12.5, 15.0, and 15.5. Below is from a document describing how the connection is made. So I am wondering if the SyBase Open client can access a SyBase Advantage database or if we can use ODBC to connect to the Advantage database or if there some other way to do this?
From the IBM DB2 document
However, unlike other application servers, a federated server uses the native client of the data source to access the data source. For example, a federated server uses the Sybase Open Client to access Sybase data sources and an Microsoft SQL Server ODBC Driver to access Microsoft SQL Server data sources.
Advantage does not support Open Client. You can use any of the drivers that ship with Advantage to connect to it, such as ODBC, JDBC, .Net managed provider, etc. However, I can't help you with the DB2 side of the equation.
