How to copy ECC 6 system SQL2005/windows2003 server

I have two ECC 6 system SQL2005/windows2003 server. One has id “NRE” and the new one(just installed) has id “NRP”. As well corresponding databases.

However NREDATA1...NREDATA3 and NRELOG1 on c:\

.NRPDATA1...NRPDATA3 are on E:\ and NRPLOG1 on c:\

I would like to have “NRP” with same contens(clients...) like “NRE”. How would you do it step by step?

    Hi

    Please follow the steps carefully.

    1. Using SQL Server Management Studio Detach Data Files in NRE using right click on database, select tasks->Detach.(or use sp_detach_db)

    2. Stop SQL Server Services using services.msc

    3. Take a backup of all MDF & LDF in NREDATA1...NREDATA3 and NRELOG1

    4. Copy all .MDF and .LDF files From NRPdata1..,NRPDATA3 & NRPLOG1 and rename (NRP* to NRE*)

    5. Start SQL Server Services

    6. Using SQL Server Management Studio Detach Data Files in NRE using right click on database, select tasks->attach.(or use sp_attach_db)

Now all datas in NRP is Copied to NRE

    Expecting to your award points

    Hi Tina,

if I understand you correctly, you want to perform a homogeneous system copy. Please have a look at Note 151603 - Copying an SQL Server database. This note describes the procedure step by step. The job is not done by just copying the database, you also have to perform follow-up activties within the application. Please also search this forum with the keyword "system copy" and you will get a number of threads dealing with this topic.

If you run into specific problems during the process, please let us know.

    Regards,

    Sven
