CTS+ and NWDI usage for portal and XI transports

Hi all,

Some days ago I found at SDN the slides of a KHNC (Know-How NetWeaver Call) titled "Enhanced Chage and Transport System (CTS) for Portal and NWDI Use Case", given by Marion Schlotte, member of the Netweaver RIG group. Now I'am a bit confused about the different usage scenarios for NWDI and CTS. As far as I know, NWDI, or more precisely the CMS of NWDI can be used to transport XI objects (integration scenarios) too. But the same can be done with CTS+ . Which way shall I prefer in which situation? Another point is the transport of PCD content. I was hoping that transporting portal objects will be integrated into NWDI, but instead of this the CTS has been extended. If my project team is developing a Netweaver portal application, using web dynpro as GUI framework and XI as integration platform, must we use both development environments?

Please could anybody help me to understand the relationship between CTS+ and NWDI? Every hint is very welcome

Thanks

Barbara

Hi Barbara

I'm in the position as you - trying to figure out what to use... As I understand it CTS+ can transport abap and java. This was earlier covered by CTS (abap) and CMS (java). So now we can control transports and synchronization from one tool instead of two tools.
