Item Management Method

In Item master Data we have an option Management Method : 1) On Release only

2) On Every Transaction.

When I select On Release only another Heading Appears as :

Automatic Serial Number creation on Report.

Can any body Explain Difference and which kind of Industry needs this type of Transactions.

I am sure this functionality is used in the industry like electronic product distributor, car, motor cycle, oto parts or maybe convectionary and other relate distributor, retail or wholesales that need to maintain item serial no. beside item no. It could be happened because one item no. could have more than one serial no. for example handphone nokia 9922 will have more than one serial no.

Serial no management in SAP B1 will be used either when selling it from warehouse to customer, good issue from warehouse to other warehouse or stock transfer. If you select on every transaction, all transactions must record serial no.
