I need to know what are the reference cubes available for consolidation and how and when these cubes are used? What are the basic differences with each of these cubes?

For reporting purposes, you can use the virtual InfoCube 0BCS_VC11 – Consolidation (Company/Consolidation Profit Center). It shares the same structure as InfoCube 0BCS_C11.

The difference between InfoCube 0BCS_C11 and InfoCube 0BCS_C10 is that in the former InfoCube (0BCS_C11) the profit center hierarchy and the company hierarchy are dependent on versions and time periods.

SAP provodes three model cubes.

They are

0BCS_C50

0BCS_C10

0BCS_C11

<b>Use of 0BCS_C50</b>

This is used in Business Consolidation (SEM–BCS) to model an organization that is based on one characteristic with the role consolidation unit. This InfoCube is primarily intended for transferring the data model from the EC-CS Consolidation component.

<b>0BCS_C10 & C_11:</b>

For matrix organizations, SAP Business Content provides the InfoCubes 0BCS_C10 and 0BCS_C11.

You can assign the virutal cube at the time of creation of the data stream or you can allow the system to generate one automatically which will be used for reporting purpose.

Apart from the time and version dependency mentioned by Sridhar, C11 uses the terminology of company/consolidation profit center and C10 uses company/ profit center. I dont really understand the subtle difference between profit center and consolidation profit center. If they are one and the same then why should SAP uses the terminology of consolidation profit center in C11.
