How to create language specific Master data

Hello experts,

I have system ECC 6.0 IDES unicode installed.

we are planning to create languge specific data into SAP i.e german,french,portugueese etc with their specific currency and date entries.

anybody has ides how to go about it.

    hi,

    you mean like descriptions (for materials for example) ?

    can you be more specific (what kind of master data)

    and which fields

      you're welcome.

      Date formats are usually stored as character strings in the database. A common storage format is YYYYMMDD (a CHAR8 string), but there are other possibilities (e.g. a timestamp) as well. This is handled by the application itself. There are some algorithms that handle this internally and hidden from the user's view. A common rule is that only the values without any dots, slashes, and so on are stored within the database. Those are added later on for display only. On database level it would be useless information that would take to much space.

      For a currency, the storage on database level is similiar. Depending on the specific currency configuration (e.g. amount of decimal places), the data is stored without any formatting within the database. The formatting is added later on by some software logics for display.
