SAP Clustering on HP-UX(SGe integration) with DB2 9.1

Dear All,

We installed ECC6 with DB2 LUW 9 on HPUX 11.23 and then hardware

vendor has set up a cluster on HPUX 11.23 for ECC6 and DB2 LUW 9.

THE CLUSTER has been configured with the following

Cluster Package Name(Virtual Name): DBCIMRP

Primary Node: MECCPRD1

Secondary Node: MECCPRD2

the file db2node.cfg was placed locally on the nodes each having the

hostname of the local node. DB2 wont start with the Cluster Package

Name in the db2node.cfg. Everything basically is on SAN is accomadate

comfortable switch over

On switch over everything basically works fine now, even with switch

back everything is fine. We would like to if it is now necessary to

catalog the database as shown below

db2 uncatalog database <db-alias>

db2 uncatalog node <nodename>

Then catalog the DB2 database locally:

db2 catalog database <DBSID> as <DBSID>L on /db2/<DBSID>

and catalog remote (secondary) node:

db2 catalog tcpip node NODE<DBSID> remote\

<reloc_database_name> server sapdb2<DBSID>

catalog database on remote node:

db2 catalog database <DBSID>L as <DBSID> at node

\NODE<DBSID> authentication SERVER_ENCRYPT

Is this a safe operation does it effect the database in any way,

actually what are the consequencies of these commands.

Regards

Vinay

    Hi Vinay

Please give information about the db2 engine installation, whether it is locally installed on each box or its on SAN.

If the db2 engine is on SAN then you will not need to do the catalog steps.

      Hi,

if you move app server + db server in 1 block, the recataloguing of the database is not necessary. If you plan to split app server from db server, it is. This kind of cataloguing guarantees that the app server connects using the TCP/IP over the virtual host name of your database server without any changes to DB2DBDFT and the SAP profile.
