Data refresh / Security Role Question

Regarding Lumira Discovery...

When a user refreshes a Lumira dashboard it prompts to enter in BW credentials in order to access the back-end data.

When a user refreshes a WEBI report it pulls back data based on an authorization that is automatically passed.

Is there a way to use Lumira with security roles instead of setting up user access to BW one-by-one?

Bryson Steinmeyer - please look at this wiki created by SAP - and pay attention to the notes.

Hi, thank you for the article you linked but that does not answer my question.

The question is "does Lumira Discovery support existing authorizations that are maintained in BW, or will each user that is refreshing a dashboard built on a import connection from BW be required to have a BW account"?

Are you using an OLAP Connection to the BI platform? You can set up a predefined user

If you set it up via a prompt-type connection, then yes, it is one-to-one.

How are you setting up your connection to BW? Direct or through the OLAP connection in the BI platform?

Hi Tammy, thank you for the quick response. We currently have an OLAP connection set-up for the BI Platform that we use for the connection to BW when executing reports. Can the same connection be used to support the connection to BW from Lumira Discovery? If so, I believe this address the issue. Also, if there is any supporting documentation on how to configure that connection it would be very helpful. Thanks!

As long as you are logging on to the BI platform, I don't see why you couldn't use the same connection...

Thanks for the clarification and help. I will go from there now that I have some direction.

Kind regards,
