    I found it, you were editing a report and hit the F1 key and then you get the error.

    Then when using the MS Viewer 2.3 viewer and drilling into .NT SDK guide it also errors.

    So remove the old one and then browse to it here:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\Crystal Reports 2011\HelpFiles

    Now that I've done that I don't get any errors now.

    Need more details on the clicks or links you are doing/using to test this?

      Using Help Viewer 2.3, VS2017 Pro (v15.3.3) Windows 10 Enterprise (v1703) This error occurs when you click on the starting node in left panel or any link in the text page (right pane). I've attached a JPG of the error.

    Don,

    I got this, too. The one link refers to .chm files, which are not used by the help viewer.

    Thanks, Gary Progar

    Where are you loading the Manifest file from?

      Don,

      These .mshc files were installed as part of the regular Crystal Repots for VS install process. (MS Help View 2.3 was already installed as part of the VS2017 install). I am not using the standalone .chm files (ones downloaded from the product documentation link you provided) and really don't think it is the same problem that the old compiled help (.chm) files had with being 'blocked' from access. I suspect something has shifted in how MS Help Viewer 2.3 works vs. MS Help Viewer 2.2. Also please note that the API documentation does not exhibit the same problems - only the design guide

      I'm not certain where your installer is getting its help viewer install manifest, but I found the following (and associated .cab files) at "C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\Crystal Reports 2011\HelpFiles":

      http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

      <head>

      </head>

      <body>

      <div>

      <span>SAP</span>

      <span>en-us</span>

      <span>SAP</span>

      <span>Crystal Report for Visual Studio Help Files</span>

      </div>

      <div>

      <div>

      <span>crnet_dg_2010</span>

      <a href="crnet_dg_2010.cab">crnet_dg_2010.cab</a>

      </div>

      <div>

      <span>crnet_api_2010</span>

      <a href="crnet_api_2010.cab">crnet_api_2010.cab</a>

      </div>

      </div>

      </body>

      </html>

    Don,

    The help files for Visual Studio, the manifest files, are loaded when loading SP21. The help viewer in VS 2015 and VS 2017 throw the error as shown in my original post when clicking on the help file for SAP Crystal Reports .NET SDK Developer Guide. It does not do this with the SAP Crystal Reports .NET API Guide. Clicking anywhere in that help file creates the same error.

    Thanks for your help on this.

    I am also getting these script errors on any of the SDK Developer Guide. But like others, the API guide works fine.

    Hi Guys,

    I don't know, I've tried this on 2 PC's now and they both work, using the Manifest file noted above:

    crhelp.jpg

    check permission is all I can suggest.

    Don,

    Your image shows the API guide, which I don't have any issues with. It is the SDK that throws the error. By the way, I can read the actual help files. It is just that the error in the image I posted shows up with every click. I have this trouble on my office PC and my home PC. I do not have this issue with any other help files.

    Thanks again for taking a look.

    Don,

    I've checked permissions on all files associated with the Design Guide help (I've noted that you sent a screen grab of the API guide which does not exhibit any problems) and have tested on both a clean SP21 install on two of our development workstations (a Win7/VS2017/Help Viewer 2.3 and a Win10/VS2017/Help Viewer 2.3) and the Design Guide always exhibits this error. What is the configuration of the workstations you have used?

    Thanks for checking this out.
