How to transport confugration settings ...?

Hello SDNers,

Can anybody please guide me how to transport the confugration settings in an Portal environment ?

We have carried out KM Confugration settings in Dev server, now we need to transport these settings into Quality.

Thanks for your inputs and time in advance.

Kind Regards,

Anil Kumar.

It depends on what you are trying to do.

Most KM configurations have Export option. Check the Actions menu in System Administration --> System Configuration --> Knowledge Management --> Content Management.

The exported configuration from development can be imported in the Quality server.

    Hi Anil Kumar,

additionally let me raise a general concern I have. I do not recommend using documents RM for your data. Please see also SAP Note No. 927146:

...Custom content - addition to the considerations above

Default system Repositories and their folders should not be used for

storing customer specific content. Some reasons for this are:

    - SAP default Repositories does contain crucial system data /

    support essential system functionality.

    - In contradiction to default configurations only for custom

specific repositories the configuration can be highly

optimized in terms of e.g. assigned Repository Services,

persistence mode and caches - according to specific business

needs. This might highly impacts performance.

    - Seperate monitoring option.

    - Easier in terms of security context, to include in security

    concept.

    - Distribution of size growth.

As a conclusion it is strongly recommended to create customer specific

    repositories for customer specific content.

It's an easy thing to setup sepcific RM tailored to your needs here. That's why we have that great framework in CM, giving you all that options 😊

    Best Regards, Peter

    • Hi Anil Kumar,

the documents is just a very generic RM. For just storing reports it might be too expensive, looking at services and other traffic/usage etc. A more lean and more specific RM might make sense here, as mentioned in note 900571. Seperation in general from default deliveries and options for adjusting a custom made RM is also beneficial.

About alternative options for broadcasting see e.g. SAP Note No. 1002104.

      Regards, Peter
