Hi,

I am trying to take DB13 getting this error. this is my environment.

SAP :4.6C

DB :Oracle 10.2

BR0102I Following backup device will be used: /dev/rmt0.1

BR0103I Following backup volumes will be used:VSPB10,VSPB11

BR0134I Unattended mode with 'force' active - no operator confirmation allowed

BR0211E Volume remount required - unattended mode not possible

BR0056I End of database backup: bdwhhzuf.aft 2007-10-04 11.48.10

BR0280I BRBACKUP time stamp: 2007-10-04 11.48.10

BR0054I BRBACKUP terminated with errors

backup is not happening through DB13. if i try from os level after completeting 77.23% it's asking for next volume label and tape got ejected.

Kindly help me on this..

Thanks & regards

Hi Subbu,

If tape gets ejected & your tape size is higher than database size, then please goto to database folder in Oracle Home. In file init<SID>.sap increase the size of parameter tape_size.

P.S Award points if helpful

Sorry, but this answer is NOT totally correct.

What if you increase the "tape size" on the init<SID>.sap and now the backup does NOT fit on the tape. You can have an even WORSE problem.

Lets try to explain:

The error that you are getting is that the database size that BRBACKUP calculates does NOT fit on one tape ( considering the tape_size and compression rate if you are using one 😞

<b>BR0103I Following backup volumes will be used:VSPB10,VSPB11</b>

You are trying to do an automatic backup ( without operator to be present )

therefore, there is nobody to take out tape VSPB10 and insert tape VSPB11 and BRBACKUP does not allows such situation:

<b>BR0211E Volume remount required - unattended mode not possible</b>

Now that you know the cause of the problem you can take a look at "possible" solutions. All of them depend on information that you have NOT provided.

1) are you using compression? Is it up to date?

2) What kind of tape drive are you using?

3) what is the REAL size of the tape that you are using?

4) can you use BIGGER tapes?

Hi,

I feel the prob is diagonised properly by Fidel.

Most prob the current size of the db do not fits the tape size and it requires two tapes for the bkup even after taking into cosideration the current compression rates. Check what bkup yu r taking i mean if its only the data bkup or a data bkupredo logs bk up. If it is whole data bkupredo logs bkup then try with only one ie data bkup only.

i have one more dought.

I have taken DBEXPORT from 4.6C(EXT kernel),oracle 9.2.7 and the same i want to import it on 4.6C,oracle10.2.2.(already 4.6C on oracle 10.2.2 is there)

when i try to run DBRELOAD it's showing only oracle 8.1.7 and oracle 9.2 only. it's not showing oracle 10.2 (both in DBRELOAD as well DBMIG)

how to proceed on this..

Thanks & regards
