Hi,
I have been advised by our implementation partners to set a page file size 3X the physical RAM. Our physical RAM is a whopping 8GB. So we are advised to set the page file to 24GB... Can this be? Should this be?
thanks,
Jason
thanks for the feedback

Hi,
In the SAP world, 8 GB RAM is a medium size.
24 GB of page file is a minimum. I would go for 30 GB.
Nowadays disk space is cheap !
On our windows 2003 64 bit itanium servers for SAP R/3, we have 16 GB RAM.
Regards,
Olivier

Hi,
today's recommendation is 1 times RAM plus 8 GB. (in your case 16 GB).
the old recommendation 4 times RAM but not more than 10 GB was suitable for systems with small amount of memory but not for servers with a lot of virtual memory.
It's the total size of the pagefile not the size per pagefile per disk.

Hari.
Hi Jason,
When ever your sys. run out(completely used ) of Memory , it will swap leat, last used part to disk to make memory avilable for the next file. For example if you keep on openning some files on your desk top , it will say not enough memory(ok on desk tops it's managed automatically). To avoid same situation on Server's we manage manually and 3 or 4 Gb is all based on experience
only it's derived.
Hope this help you,
Hari.
