Hi,
Is there any opportunities with in SAP to block the finished goods once it reaches the
self life expiration goods AUTOMATICALLY.Our business requirement is particularly interested in this requirement.ONLY FINISHED GOODS,BLOCKING AUTOMATICALLY.
UPON EXPIRY OF SHELF LIFE EXPIRATION DATE.
With regards,

YOu can define the minimum shelf life and total shelf life for your FG materials in material master Plant Data storage1.
Once this is mentioned in material master, the system will ask for the date of manufacture whenever the GR i s done for the material and will give you error message when the shelf life has been reached.
reward if helpful

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. As you mentioned,We have maintained data in material master. Then question is how to block them automatically..I have not understood on the GR part.
Are we going to do goods receipt for finished goods also? as i understood when ever we procure the materials we will make GR.I was pretty not sure about the finished goods.
could you elobrate.Your answer is appriciated.
Note: i have studied threads posted in this forum.but none of them seems to be specifically for finished goods.
you need to mention for which all movement types you want the shelf life to be considered. This can be done thru OMJ5.
Yes there is GR for Finished goods also in case of subcontracting and PP also. But this movement was just an example to explain, that when we msanufacture an FG it will be received in the system, and if shelf life check for 101 is activated and shelf life data for the material is maintained then it will ask you for the manufacturing date on GR and will define the shelf life of the batch on that basis. And again if for example you have put shelf life check for some other movement then it will give you the error that shelf life has expired. It will not allow the material to be issued.
hope this helped.
Hi Charu Bela,
Thanks for your reply.
I checked your reply and found with OMJ5 settings for movement type 101 in production goods receipt,if material master data is maintained in Shelf life details in plant storage, then production date field will prompt.
Moving forward,Once i give the production date here for any finished goods, then,I believe system will calculate the SLED (Self life expiration date ) automatically, right? accordingly system will block these finished goods.
Also,In ware house management how these kind of materials are handled? Is there any specific transaction codes in WM?.
Also,If you know specific tables for SLED ,Kindly help to understand.
Your answer is appreciated.
With regards,

Dear Rachoti,
If you maintaine total shlf life system cluculates that in start of manufacture or date of finished product then automatically it will strike GR if expired no further process willl takes place the GR will stop.
one other way is if you have activate batch management then that take care of it.
it wont allow the further process onece life expired it will almost block position only
Hope this will helps you
Prem

Hi
U have to activate and give th options in OMJ5 transaction for shelf life expiration check for plant and movement type so that system will issue a warning or error message when u do the good movement. and u have to maintain shelf life data in material mstaer plant/sloc dat view. It work only when batch management is active for the material.
hope it will help
