FI posting - T Code FB01 - Message KI101

Dear Gurus,

When I am trying to post a GL document in T Code FB01, the system emits an error message that the "Controlling area does not exist". I have not assigned this company code to any controlling area. Also, I am not using any cost object in the transaction I am trying to post. The message number is KI101.
