What is difference between GUI_download and Open dataset

Dear All,

I know there are 2 options for downloading SAP data.

1) GUI_DOWNLOAD Functional Module.

2) OPEN DATASET DSET FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE.

What is the difference ??

When I should use ?? What are the deciding factors ??
