Using Profit Center for Three way Match

My organization has elected to use profit center as the primary company code level as opposed to company code and we are in pre-planning for implementing procure to pay with this sap structure. My understanding is when performing Three way Match in A/P the match is performed at the company code level but am curious if anyone has been able to perform three way match using profit center in lieu of company code.
