COPA

Hi,

COPA being Client independent I would like to add my company code in the existing COPA configuration. I would like to add some additional value fields for local requirement .

How to include those things .

What are the precaution I have to take as COPA is Client independent . ( not to disturb he existing system)

Appreciate yr guidance on the step by step procedure in this .

Thanks

Chitras

Go to tcode KEA6 and choose whether u want to create a value field or characteristic. If u want to create value field then it must start with a prefix of VV and characteritics should start with WW.

In the initial screen enter ur operating concern and choose value field from operating concern. This give a initial warning and press enter. Go to the overview screen of the value filed and press create button.

Enter the name of the value field and press activate. This will activate the value field u created.

U need to follow the same for the creation of characteristics also. Here u will get a pop up screen from which u have an option of creating a characters either from the standard table or user defined.

If u are selecting user defined option then enter the name for the characteristic and activate it.

If the characteristic created by you is not from a standard SAP field then u need to do characteristic derivation so that the created characteristic derive values using tcode KEDR.

Thanks Kamal.

In my case I am using already existing Operating comncern ( Which is used by another co code).

Now I am assigning the same to my co code.

If transport the objects from the production to my sandbox, is it necessary to generate after the transport (KE31) to activate the operating concen for the company code.

If it is new creation of Op Concern it is Ok to generate. by doing the generate will it not disturb the existing client which is using COPA ?

Seek yr suggestion on this, Thanks, Chitras

Hi

It should not affect the other company code in any way. This affects only the Operating concern. Carry out this in sand box client. There is no need for u regenarate the operating concern unless the system prompts to u do that. \

All the best

Kamal,

Thanks for yr instant response.

One more last clarification please. After transport 'under maintain operating concern ( KEA0) to make the status acive for Client dependent and Client independent ' Generate the environment ' ( SAP manual says only once --as first time only....) This created the doubt...

Do you mean the same?

1.My fear is that by doing this the other co code using COPA as production should not get disturbed >

Thanks , Chitras

Hi

U are not supposed to do anything in PRD and it will not be opened for this. Before u create a transport request u do it everything in DEV and then create a transport request and move it to PRD. Beofore u venture this in DEV, try to replicate the scenario in a sandbox client and ensure that everything is OK.

You cannot assign comapny code directly to operatign concern. You should assign it to controling area which in turns assgined to opearting concern.

Regarding value fields, you can use the existing ones or create user defined value fields and assign to condition types or based on the requirment.

assign points if helpful

HI Kamal & PV,

Right now I am away from my system. Appreciate if you complete all the steps in one go so that I can try it out tomorrow .

Waht are the caution I have to take to use the existing Operating concern Wherein I am attaching my CO area and Co code to use the existing Value fields and characteristics.

2. IF I want to create few valure fields for my local requireemnts how to go about it.

Appreciate yr response.

Thanks,Chitras

<b>Hi

Go to IMG - Entreprise struture- Deifine ur operating concern

Hope u would have defined ur company code and assign it the controlling area by this time.

The next logical step assing the Operating concern to the Controlling area

This u do it in IMG- Enterprise structure- Assignement- operating concern to controlling area.

Pl let me know once u have completed these steps. Then we shal go ino the other steps.</b>
