Hi can we upload Documents on Solution manager 7.2 SP03. We have requirement from business to upload and store documents on Solution manager. Documents can be any documents like Upgrade execution and testing documents (in word/excel/ppt formats).
I can wee we have previous documents on Solman_Directory under a Solution. Now after upgrade to 7.2 SP03, we can only view Solman_Directory as it is obsolete.
I have checked the SolDoc transaction but I am unable to upload documents. Moreover how can we get standard hierarchy here as we have in Solman_Directory? like business processes, then sub nodes and then again sub nodes. do we have to create those each manually? Is there any way to create standard hierarchy similar to one we have in Solman_Directory (inside Solution where previous documents were present)? Also do we have any mass upload option?
Mass upload of documents is part of planned innovations for SP06. You can check the latest Solman roadmap for more details.

Hello,
It looks like you made a mistake or misundertstood some of the Content Activation part.
Did you create a new Branch, or are you trying to edit the Production Branch? (Read-only, by design)
Regarding the Mass upload, the prefered option is the dropDoc feature that is included the Focused Build add-on ($$).

Hi Alexandre
when you mentioned preferred option(Focused Build) .......i am not fully sure about it as it is not available for Free so definitely an option only but can't be preferred one as different customer have different requirement and we can't ask for every customer to go for it.
Even SAP has different add-ons like Focused build e.g we do have focused insight etc. and other forms but all are licensed.
Anyway we can always wait to see if this might be available in near future in standard.
Thanks
Hi Andreas,
Thanks for reply. We have executed the content actiavation port steps after upgrade to 7.2 and I can see the hierarchy in SOLDOC, but i have to right click on it and select "show content activation source" in order to view documents and it take me to the SOLMAN_DIRECTORY old transaction.
I would like to understand how I can make new standard hierarchy for uploading new documents?
Are there any standard hierarchies available?
Can i upload new documents in old hierarchy via new transaction SOLDOC?
How can i upload mass documents at once?
Regards.

Hi Arpit,
Mass upload of documents is not possible in solman 7.0 7.1 or 7.2. There are alternative way of doing this 7.1 as well but not in standard.
We might see in future in solman 7.2 but we don't know when.
Further yes you can upload whatever document you want in soldoc maintenance branch as production branch is always read only. Please don't use old solman_directory etc. as you are suppose to use Soldoc or the new Fiori launchpad for all users only.
Further we have the option of SAP Best Practices for importing sap standard hierarchy documentation etc in soladm transaction. check below
https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SM/SAP+Best+Practices
more info in below blog specifically do check comments section
this should suffix ur query but revert if you need more help
Thanks

Hi Arpit,
this sounds to me like the content activation failed regarding to documents. All documents you had assigned in 7.1 should be shown directly in SOLDOC, not necessarily at the same place but they should be there. If they are lost, please open a ticket. This should be checked.
Kind Regards
Andreas
Hi Arpit,
you can use content activation to migrate SOLMAN_DIRECTORY solutions to SOLDOC.

Kind Regards
Andreas
