Can SAP WM be implemented without material physical charateristics?

Is it possible to implement SAP Warehouse Management without taking into account physical characteristics for material (weight, size, …) at least for some warehouse ?

Our main interest is to know the precise location of material that can be stored in different places (a few in stock, a few in front of the production line, …). However we’re not that interested by footage optimization done thanks to random storage.

Yes it is possible in general, but you have to ask yourself how the system can really help you with placement and finding a bin if you are not supplying the full set of parameters to do so. A strategy next empty bin will certainly work without such parameters. Addition to existing stock will probably suggest bins which are already full. So you end up in more or less manual put-away.
