Why can't I change the Opportunity Owner via Workflow of type Field Update?

Hello experts

Our client has this concept of "Renewal", wherein when an Opportunity object's Custom Status is set to "Closed", the Owner of the Opportunity needs to be automatically reassigned to a "Renewal Officer".

When I look at the Workflow tool, it doesn't let me choose the standard field "Owner" for Field Update. Any particular reason why? Can I still do this? Or am I just missing a step?

You Might want to refer :

Neverthess , Not all fields of all business objects are exposed to be updated via workflow. If there are specific fields you would need in order to complete your business process, please post the list on, so that the colleagues responsible for that object can consider the enhancement for a future release.

Yes I agree, I will definitely post this in the Ideas forum. I was just hoping maybe there really is a reason why it can't be edited from there because, not totally sure, there might be a different configuration activity that does this or there might be a fine tune activity for this that I might not know of yet.
