Hi XI Guys ,
I have few doubts like :
1. Are Alerts and CCMS Alerts same..If not then what is the difference..?
2. Is Alert is the only mechanism for handling exception ...If no then what are the other ways..?
3. Are Alerts used only with BPM ? If not then how can we use Alert in normal scenario ?
4. Can we use Value Mapping dynamically....like i want to populate the values dynamically from a system.
Regards,
Hi
1. Yes Basically to monitor the systems(landscape) use CCMS but to monitor the execution of scenarios use ALRTCATDEF.
CCMS is used to monitor the entire system, suppose the XI server itself is down then in that case CCMS will send the alerts,ALRTCATDEF won't be able to trigger the alert since the server itself is down so no question of ALRTCATDEF triggering the alert.
3.Generally alerts can be sent by
control step in BPM
calling RFC salert_create in a UDF
. Alerts are used outside BPM . Alerts can be triggered Automatically

Apart from alerts we can also fault messages for validations /exceptions
check with these which are in relevance for exception handling apart frmo alerts
