BAPI Fields to SAP GUI Fields

Hello All, I have a requirement to map all the fields of BAPI BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA to the MM01 tcode fields in GUI. The reason i am doing this is that i have to create materials using a BAPI instead of MM01. As you all know that the field names in the BAPI are not completely understandable as the technical field names in MM01 GUI mode. For eg, MATNR in MM01 is named as MATERIAL in BAPI and MBRSH (Industry Sector) in MM01 is named as IND_SECTOR in BAPI. Entering data in MM01 is relatively easy rather than entering data in BAPI for creating a material. I now want to know if there is any fast way to know all the fields in the BAPI by which i can enter the data and create materials. There are about 560 fields in the BAPI.

For browsing field name in BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA, you can use SE37 and click display button.

After that, click on Import tab. If you want see field name under parameter name, example: HEADDATA, you can double click on associated type BAPIMATHEAD. In tab component, you can see component MATERIAL have component type MATNR, etc.

    • The component type is not the same as field name, it is data element. Sometime data element does not match with field name. E.g. for plant, component id (data element) is WERKS_D. but the field name id WERKS.

Create a material master with all details from MM01, then run BAPI_MATERIAL_GET_ALL from SE37 for the created material. You will get the all details for your BAPI.

System will give you the mapping details.
