background process

Hi experts

I have a report with selection screen and i am passing these vlues to the standard

transaction by using submit statement.

my problem is when I pass the data to the standard transaction I need this transaction to be run in background (without scheduling) and I need to download the report in excel sheet.

Can anyone give me the idea for this

    Hi Karthik,

First of all,if you want to download the data in the excel file on the Application server with the background job, then it is not possible as this combination of background job and downloading it on the Application server is not supported by SAP.

Secondly, it is not possible to code the SAP standard transaction to run in the background with the Submt statement as in order to run the report in the background, one needs to code JOB OPEN and JOB CLOSE statements in the report so that it runs in the background and since here the T-code is standard,it is not possible.

I would suggest you to prepare the report with the help of submit statement and schedule the report(custom development) itself in the background based on the frequency of its execution.

In case you have any further clarifications,do let me know.

    Regards,

    Puneet Jhari.

    Hi,

If you can call the standard transaction via a call function like say: -

call function 'CALL_TRANSACTION' in background task then your second problem could be solved.

For downloading results to excel in background try creating a spool first then run a separate program to generate the excel from the spool.

    Thanks,

    - Cheers
