Where do we assign ITEM CATEGORY USAGE to a material?

Hi all,

I have understood the calculation of ITEM CATEGORY based upon ITEM CATEGORY USAGE and three values.

Can someody tell me where do we link this ITEM CATEGORY USAGE and the Material?

Where do we assign this ITEM CATEGORY USAGE to a Material?

Hi Naren,

Please consider this following scenario.

We have these two entries in the VOV4:

1)

Sales Type - AA

Item Cat. Group - NORM

Usage - TEXT

Default Item Category - TAN

2)

Sales Type - AA

Item Cat. Group - NORM

Usage -

Default Item Category - TAX

We dont have the USAGE in the second entry.

Now lets create and order using Sales Order Type - AA for a material with Item category group as NORM.

Here, which item category will be determined, either "TAN" or "TAX" ?

Can you please tell me how TAX will be triggered and when will the TAN be triggered by the same material?

Well, I am just repeating my question once again - How/Where do you link the usage and the material(or the transaction)?

Where do we use "item category usage" apart from VOV4?

Hi,

Item category usage is one of the factor in item category determination.

Order type + Itemcategory group + Usage + H Item category + Item category.

When we do a product selection, the usage will be PSEL, and the item category will be determined based on the Usage also.

If you want to set usage, then I remember in the customer material info recored VD51, there is a field Usage. Please check that.

hi

item cat usage is basically one of the factors that determines the item category.

this is assigned in item cat determinmation VOV4,

as you can see there USAGE field basically suggessts, the nature of the item.

for example if the item is normal item,the usage field is left blank,

if it is a free item, then usage will reflect 'free".

like wise for text item "text"and so on.

from this you can understand what is the charecter of the item.
