Hello,
we have a problem with SARA transaction when we try to archive workitems.
We have problems running the programm WORKITEM_WRI that have spent 18
days and 19 hours (we had to stop the proccess because of a machine shutdown) and only the 3% of archived was done.
We have done an upgrade of a 4.5B version to ECC6.0. In 4.5B version the same process with old program RSWWARCA takes 1 hour and 15 minutes in order to complete the whole archive process.
We have been tying to solve the problem checking out our system following the note 621258. But we can not find the Business Configuration Set (BC Set) ARCH_WORKITEM. Due to our patches level it should be exist.
What is happening in our system? Can anybody help us to solve this problem?
Why the process takes so long?

Thanks in advanced for your help.
Best regards,
Have you deleted all the work items of type C before archiving? If you haven't you probably should. I think you will also find OSS Notes about work item type C.

Thanks so much for you suggestion but I think that workitem type C is not the problem because in the 4.5B version the archiving process of the same table only spent 1 hour an 15 minutes.
The issue is why in one version the process runs properly but in ECC takes so long... and the process do not finish. Notice that we canceled the process after 18 days and only the 3% of the archived was done!!!
I am new working with workflows and archiving process and I do not know if the problem is something about the customizing of the machine, size of the tables, and so on.
Best regards.

Good point about the archiving finishing quickly in 4.5 - it is not likely that SAP excluded such work items in that version and now includes them.
You haven't said anything about the criteria for your archiving (limiting by date, or whatever) or the amount of data (number of work items) you think will be archived.
Have you tried archiving work items for a single day just to see how long it takes? Or even a single work item just to verify that the program will complete? The execution time of a program often grows exponentially with the amount of data, so if you have a sudden increase in the number of workflows that can be archived you may be in for an unpleasant surprise.
On Note 621258 - Archiving WORKITEM standardizations is talked about the new programs for archiving workitems WORKITEM_WRI, WORKITEM_DEL and the Business Configuration Set (BC Set) ARCH_WORKITEM that is used to activate these programs.
What happen if in our system ECC6.0 this BC Set does not exist? It is necessary?
Can this fact be cause of our problems with the long time that the archiving process take on ECC system?
Can we import the Support Package assigned to the note although our SAP_BASIS is 700, higher than the realease that appears in the note (SAP_BASIS 620)?
Where can we find this BC Set in order to import it in our ECC6.0 system?
Any help, idea or suggestion about this issue will be welcome.
Regards.
Hi,
Since you have upgraded to ECC6 there is no need to activate the BC set. You are already using the new program WORKITEM_WRI. The BC set needs to be activated if you are currently using the old archiving program but want to start using the new archiving program. So note 621258 is not a solution to your problem. I have looked in service marketplace and there is not OSS note for the issue reported by you. I suggest you open a customer message in SAP service marketplace. Meanwhile have you tried to run the archiving program in test mode with a small set of data eg: 100 workitems ?
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
Samanjay
