We have a working 6.40 installation server that uses the distribution service to install the GUI on systems without administrator access.
I'm now trying to set up the equivalent in 7.10 but having problems. I've configured the distribution service with the same accounts as we use in 6.40 so know they should work, but the installations on workstations fail as follows:
09:43:00 NwSapFeiUt 3 Utilities Library initialized (Unicode Release build)
09:43:00 NwSapFeiUt 1 Distribution server expected as gbbys194.cre.rbm.vwg
09:43:00 NwSapFeiUt 1 Going to call pipe "
gbbys194.cre.rbm.vwg\PIPE\_nw_sapfeids_is_pipe_" sending GBRBMCCRC02745 /fs="
gbbys194.cre.rbm.vwg\sapgui7\setup" /cmdline='/package:"Bentley" /noDlg' /isversion="0.0.0.0" /_upid=1584 /winsta="WinSta0" /desktop="Default" /event="Global\IS_NW_SAPSETUP_Sync_Event170296"
09:43:00 NwSapFeiUt 1E CallNamedPipe failed; maybe DS is not running or networking problem occurred: The pipe has been ended.## Error code 0x6d (109)09:43:03 NwSapSetup 1E * LSH failed *
09:43:10 NwSapSetup 1E LOCAL SECURITY HANDLING FAILED
09:43:10 NwSapFeiUt 3 Utilities Library shutdown
The distribution service is running, but can't get this to work.
I wonder if anyone else has got this to work? There don't seem to be any notes on specific problems with this in 7.10 but it refuses to co-operate!
Thanks
Thanks for your response.
I am calling the setup program without the domain suffix, but the installer seems to add it automatically.

hello,
try
gbbys194\sapgui7\setup
instead of
gbbys194.cre.rbm.vwg\sapgui7\setup
regards
