Solution Manager 7.2 CCMS Remote System e-Mail sending

Former Member

Hello Community,

we have built a Soltuon Manager 7.2 in our environment. Lets call it SLM.

We have configured a System - lets call it ABC - with SAPCCM4X to communicate and send CCMS data to our SLM.

When I take a look at RZ20 within SLM I can see a lot of MTEs of System ABC.

With these I created a CCMS monitoring template within SLM.

Now, when I want to be send an e-mail when threesholds have been passed, SLM routes me to the system ABC and wants me to configure an auto reaction method there. I dont want the ABC to send an email; I want the SLM to do so. But I just cant find a way to configure it.

Can anybody please shed some light on this?

Best regards and thanks in advance!
Kerem

Hello Kerem,

if you are still interested in using CCMS:

In your case you have to configure the central autoreaction method in SLM system and assign it to the required MTE classes in "RZ21 --> Technical Infrastructure --> Configure central system --> Assign Central Autoreactions". To be able to use the central autoreaction the CCMS agent should be registered at CEN and it has to work without issues.

CCMS is still supported in all available SAP NetWeaver Releases and can be used. But the recommended infrastructure is MAI. CCMS is one of the data providers for MAI.

Hello Prakhar,

thanks for your fast response. Its not quite what Im looking for.
What we need is, that as soon as a CCMS monitored object - for exapmple aborted background job - turns to red, the SLM itself sends an alert email. Right now SLM wants me to configure ABC to send that email.

Hello Dieter,

actually you have mixed input ..what is your requirement to monitor SCOT or some jobs.

  1. for SCOT you can do the steps as per blog

so once you create the techmon custom metric and enabled for your systems in solman tech mon setup then alerts will be created as soon remotely your job is failed etc and then you can have email/notification(SMS)/ incident etc. on this Alert.

2 for jobs

similarly you can do this for any jobs SL1 logs etc...for Job you can check below

you can directly create one scenario with your jobs(list) and then set the KPIs in solman like Job cancelled etc.

once there is alert it will send email/notification(SMS)/ incident

https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SM/Job+Management?preview=/399671381/467534864/Configuring%20J...

i hope this helps further.

Hi again,
I guess I was a little bit unclear here. Sry for the confusion.
I dont want to monitor e-mails. Let me give you an example:

On ABC I have installed SAPCCM4X Agents. It delivers data to SLM. For example about buffer use. I have put threeshold to 90%. So If Buffer use is above 90% I want the SLM to send an alert e-mail. So what I have to do is to define an autoreaction method for sending an e-maill. Problem is: I have to put that auto reaction method on ABC to that Buffer use MTE. That e-Mail will be send from ABC then. But I want the SLM to send in.

Hope this clears some of the confusion.

Hi Dieter,

SAP has already moved from CCMS to MAI based monitoring framework and it helps you to achieve the various types of monitoring already in 7.1 version itself.

so what exactly you want to monitor which can't be done using MAI is I am trying to understand.

basically now you need to have Diagnostic agents in the ABC system which gives data to solman and you can do broader or detailed level of monitoring as compared to CCMS.

Could you please check below

https://help.sap.com/viewer/653345d394d8453baf5be81e6dda7565/7.2.04/en-US/0198c975e75547e1ba1044f419...

Infact now its more easier to setup since you need to use a copy of SAP template for your system and then activate it to trigger alert with email etc

Problem is I have no clue on how to properly configure the Solman 7.2: The Guide you send me is pretty big and looks like an invest of a lot of hours which I do not have.

So I did what I used to know. SAPCCM4X... Could you please tell me - is it possible to have the Solman send emails about issues on remote System via CCMS?

Thanks

Hello Dieter,

As mentioned CCMS is outdated and not supported in Solman 7.2. this is also one if the reasons customer have to migrate their BPM monitoring setup based upon CCMS to MAI.

you can check some info here

https://blogs.sap.com/2014/10/31/changes-in-the-infrastructure-for-bpmon-on-mai-compared-to-classic-...

Yes the procedure is long there ofcourse a huge post setup which has to be done and no. of days/month ..team size etc.....all depends upon the landscape (no. of system) .and many other factors.

e..g for every solman 7.2 fresh or post upgrade you need to do the complete solman_setup mandatory setup

once this is done then only you can proceed with any other functionality setup like Technical Monitoring which is now Application Operations area. so yes can't be done in hours.

normally it is done in a project mode to carry out these type of activities accordingly which is similar or any other SAP implementation.

Thanks

Hi Prakhar,

thanks for your evaluation, much appreciated. Guess, I'll have to reconsider my monitoring concept.
