Call the Monitoring Probes of BI 4.2 as URLs

Is it possible to call the Monitoring Probes of BI 4.2 as URLs?

E.g: http://webserver:8080/monitoring/monitoring?probefile=template_probe1.xml (this URL calls the CMS Logon Logoff Probe)

It is possible in XI 3.1 as described in KB 1812811 - Monitoring tools for BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.x

While I'm aware that the Probes are inbuilt in BI 4.x, the major drawback of it is that it works only when the Servers are up and running. For example when the CMS is down, the CMS Logon Logoff Probe scheduled in CMC > Monitoring will not run either thus we won't know about the outage.

If we can call the probes through URLs, it can be set up to call after every few minutes to check the status and alert us if the status is not successful.

This is currently set up for BOE XI 3.1 and we're looking to call the default probes available with BI 4.2 through URLs.

JMX/RMI end point URL seem to be a separate concept altogether. Please advise. Thank you.

Yes. I felt this too when Monitoring introduced as an out of box application in BI 4.x. We were configured our monitoring and alerting system by directly hitting and validating the services from the URL and We havent reused them after implementing BI 4.x. Just adding Toby to get his attention here @toby.johnston. Stay safe Toby. Its hurricane time in Florida.
