How to schedule background jobs at OS level?
Difference between Application server and Central Instance?
How to lock a client?
To lock a client use the following functional module
SCCR_LOCK_CLIENT
SCCR_UNLOCK_CLIENT

Hi Damodar,
Fendi is right but still i want to add that Central instance has Enqueue Server apart from Message Server and Application server is dialog instance with WPs like dialog, backgroun etc to balance the Load.
Hope this is useful

Hi Damodar,
Its depen on your OS.
For windows you can use scheduler
For Unix you can use cron
Central instance = message server, this control all the application like load balancing its control from central instance.
And you can only have 1 central instance in a system, but you can have more than 1 for application server.
Application server is an additional instance to help the load.
NB: Next time please put more information in your Subject.

Fendi Suyanto
