Can you add a field to the system crystal reports "Check" layout?

We are forced to print a check in SBO using the system crystal reports layout, meaning we cannot develop our own layout because only the system layout can recognize printing overflow. Then, if we want to modify this layout, we cannot do that, as this layout gets its data from a data set and not from the SAP tables.

Now, a lot of our customers are asking to print on the check stub the paid AP invoice Document date, but SBO prints the posting date. When the check is printed, we want to show the Original AP invoice number (Vendor Ref No.) and the AP invoice original date (Document Date). Unfortunately, this field (document date) does not exist in the base layout and we have no idea how to add it in - as I mentioned, there are no SAP tables in the layout.

Of course we can add connection and also tables - but is there any way to link between the existing data set and the added tables?
