I'm trying to start SDM with the HTTP Sap Management Console on unix. When I choose "restart" a popup ask me to enter a user and a password. I tried to enter root with the correct password and then SIDadm with the correct password but It doens'nt work. The popup come again without any error message.

Any ideas?

Which operating system are you using?

The problem may be, that sapstartsrv tries to use the /etc/shadow database to check the password you entered. Depending on the operating system this will work (e. g. HP-UX) or not (Solaris, Linux).

Hello Markus,

I'm using linux redhat 4 and also Solaris 9. Is there a solution in this case?

Many thanks for your answer.

Yes - the encryption algorithm must be changed.

For Linux (SLES but it should be adaptable to Redhat as well) check

958253 - SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10: Installation notes

(search for "blowfish", that is the section)

For Solaris check

992907 - sapstartsrv user authentication on Solaris

Olivier,

I thought the SDM had it's own user ID and password? The same credenitals you use to run the JSPM as well.

Please try the logon with the SDM user credentials. Let me know if I've understood your question correctly.

Thanks!

Hello,

Thanks for your replies. I tried J22E_ADMIN but still the same problem. It's the same

when I want to restart the system completely.

For example if I want to restart system T01: user: T01adm with password on unix level?

Thanks for your help.

I only use the scripts to manage a unix system... but I am kinda old fashioned that way. My bet would be to try the j2ee_admin user and password.

Hope that helps.

Paul
